BWHC holds 4-days long National Training for Trainers (NTOT) of Breaking the Cycle Project

Under the heading of Capacity Building Activities, as outcomes of two phase of ToT, 04 days-long NTOT is being conducted starting from 26 June to 29 June 2018 at Volunteer’s Association for Bangladesh (VAB) training room. A number of 18 participants (05 are from fewer opportunities) participate this NTOT. The BWHC Executive Director Sharif Mostafa Helal inaugurated the NTOT and gave his welcome speech mentioning that “Violence against women and girls is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world. It knows no social, economic or national boundaries. Worldwide, an estimated one in three women will experience physical or sexual abuse in her lifetime. Gender-based violence undermines the health, dignity, security and autonomy of its victims, yet it remains shrouded in a culture of silence. Victims of violence can suffer sexual and reproductive health consequences, including forced and unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, traumatic fistula, sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and even death.”

After this NTOT, the participants will organize series of trainings and workshops with local youth using the non-formal methodology on gender-based violence and gender roles and stereotypes; workshops will be inspired by a report of good practices, working methods based on art, theatre, music, including usage of new technologies etc.

Breaking the Cycle is a project co-funded by the European Commission, within the Aid for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practices, in the Erasmus + Youth Capacity Building. This project coordinated by the Centro Rural Joven Vida CERUJOVI association, and has a duration of one year.
The project came up with the objectives of strengthening the capacity and commitment of young people from different regions of the world to take actions aimed at eradicating Gender Based Violence (GBV). In addition, it seeks to foster cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of GBV among young people, promoting international mobility through non-formal learning. It has the participation of organizations from six countries, with extensive experiences in the field: CERUJOVI (Spain), KEDE (Greece), Youth First (Madagascar), LACC (Nepal), CHSJ (India) and BWHC (Bangladesh).
