The Bangladesh Women’s Health Coalition (BWHC) and the HelpAge Network Partners, Bangladesh (HNPB), in collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh, jointly celebrated the United Nations-declared International Day of Older Persons (1st October). As the date coincided with a public holiday this year, the event was observed on 7 October 2025.

As part of the celebration, a discussion session was held, followed by a colorful rally in the morning. In addition, a special newspaper supplement was published, featuring messages from the Honourable Chief Adviser and the Adviser, Ministry of Social Welfare, as well as a message from the Chairperson of HNPB. Two types of posters were also produced to mark the occasion.

The Adviser, Ministry of Social Welfare, graced the celebration as Chief Guest, while Mr. Sharif Mostafa Helal, the Executive Director of BWHC and Chairperson of HNPB delivered a speech highlighting Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and advocating for the UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons, encouraging the Government of Bangladesh to take positive steps in this regard.
